Star Wars Grinnell (2009)

Directed by Henry Reich ’09

From a vigorous persuit from the Noyce Science Center out to campus to encountering dozens of Stormtroopers on the Mac Field, Star Wars Grinnell brings a transcendent universe to a familiar Grinnell campus scene throughout the 5-minute runtime.

Described in a 2009 Scarlet & Black article as ‘what could become the most memorable Titular Head movies of all the time’, producing such film required tremendous commitment. Putting together the ‘Battle of Mac Field’ scene towards the end of the film required composing 20 layers of material using Adobe After Effects, followed by a 4-hour intensive editing process led by director Henry Reich ’09, who presently runs the MinutePhysics YouTube channel, which has over 5 million followings.

Grinnell: True (2001)

Directed by Vivek Venugopal ’01

While kept short to less than 1 minute, this classic piece from 2001 features former Grinnell College President Russel K. Osgood, as well as a renowned Grinnellian and Hollywood actor, Kumail Nanjiani ’01, known for appearance in Life as We Know It (2010), The Big Sick (2017), and most recently, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024).

As a Grinnell student, Nanjiani was not a stranger to Titular Head; between 1998 and 2001, Nanjiani was involved in 5 different TitHead films on acting and writing roles.
